Documentation of Medicinal Plants Traditionally Used in Health Care by Poumai Tribe of Manipur, India

The paper deals with plants used as a traditional system of medicine by the Poumai tribe Manipur, India. is one among major tribes mostly resides in Senapati District, Manipur. Agriculture main source livelihood and also sector for employment although it highly unorganized unskilled. An ethno-medicinal investigation was conducted to understand knowledge medicinal being local healers tribe, Some community exhibits established pharmacological activities which signify importance tribes. Besides, many other species traditionally assume have potentiality. result documented 35 plant belonging 23 families were found use curing 22 ailments. Leaf majority cases preparation (20 species) followed bark, fruit, whole plant, flower, stem, seed rhizome. Among species, they mainly treat diabetes (6 diarrhoea dysentery, hypertension gastritis (5 each). study thus focuses on potentials ethno-botanical research need proper documentation indigenous healthcare pertaining utilization greater benefit human mankind.
